SketchUp’s performance relies heavily on the graphics card driver and its ability to support OpenGL 3.1 or higher. To test your graphics card’s compatibility, please download and run the SketchUp Checkup application. Historically, people have seen problems with Intel-based cards with SketchUp. We don’t recommend using these graphics cards with SketchUp at this time.

We have determined that SketchUp is running stably on the ‘Apple Silicon’ hardware that powers Apple’s 2021 Mac devices. Currently, SketchUp is supported by Apple’s Rosetta 2 translation service on this hardware. If you encounter issues running SketchUp on devices with Apple‘s M1 chip.

Sketchup is a simple 3D modeling tool, useful to put quick ideas on “paper” in a digital platform so that they can be easily shared and understood by others. Sketchup is also very useful for 3D printing for casual users, with a large library of 3D objects available for printing.
Their online app is a simplified version of the true Sketchup software, and is opensource and available to all. This is a huge benefit – the app has much of the same functionality as the full software, and has the ability to save your projects to the cloud. This has proved very useful for smaller personal projects such as home renovations.
Also of note are the good walk through/fly through capabilities that allow you to see your projects from realistic perspectives.

What do you dislike?
Many of the functions are not very intuitive. It is often difficult to get certain functions to cooperate as you imagine they should work. However, there are many free online tutorials that clearly explain and demonstrate the correct way to use various tools.
Another negative is that the number of tools and options feels somewhat limiting. As this software is more suited toward basic 3D modeling, a more advanced software (for example, Rhino or Revit) is necessary to do more complex work.

SketchUp helps me to see what my pc water cooling project completed is going to look like, also I share plans with others friends or download more shape to complete a specific project, actually I use to plan how the water cooling system could be inside the PC. SketchUp is an easy way to learn 3D modeling and printing tool that helps me to decide which component to buy and put together for a better configuration.

I use it for interior and architectural design, I love that is so easy to use, but the best part is having the furniture from brand houses to export in the model directly, you can create new materials, new form, new furniture to added to your design. Also you can customize furniture or objects and exported to added to other softwares as ArchiCAD.Then exported to lumion and have amazing renders of your creations.
