EASE OF USE
Getting started in the world of 3D is a blast when you can quickly create great-looking results! Cinema 4D’s intuitive and easy to understand operation and logically arranged interface makes it easy for beginners to jump right in and take control. And it never ceases to amaze professional users just how easy Cinema 4D is to use. Countless tutorials and a global, highly-skilled community play an important role in bringing beginners to a professional level of use.
Cinema 4D is a pillar in our users’ everyday workflow. This is why we make sure from the start that new functions work intuitively and are exactly where users will expect to find them. The Cinema 4D layout can also be easily customized to precisely fit a user’s needs and saved for later use.
Cinema 4D’s stability is renowned throughout the 3D community and beyond. All new features and functions are thoroughly put through their paces by our QA and beta testers before being released. Our free service packs, which are released on a regular basis, further optimize Cinema 4D and let us rapidly respond to changes in operating systems and drivers!
POWERFUL HELP SYSTEM
Any questions about a specific function can be quickly answered by right-clicking on it and jumping straight to the integrated software documentation.
Stay flexible from beginning to end! Staying flexible for last-minute changes is important no matter which project you’re working on. Cinema 4D offers numerous options for working non-destructively: parametric modeling, procedural shaders, textures and more. And the Cinema 4D Take System lets you save and manage multiple versions of a scene in a single file!
Putting the Future in Motion
Breathe life into your characters and animations with outstanding new tools and workflow enhancements. With R23 you’ll enjoy all the great UV and Viewport updates from S22, as well as many additional refinements in both areas. Step into the future with a preview of the new Scene Nodes system, and experience the power and performance you can expect in Cinema 4D’s future.
Cinema 4D R23 includes key enhancements to the animation workflow making it easier to create and manipulate keyframes, produce fantastic new character animation rigs, and manage your character poses, retargeting, and skinning.
Character TDs and Animators celebrate! A new Pose manager allows you to easily store, recall and blend key character poses as scene-independent assets. Save variations of your object’s parameters that are not tied to the scene and re-use them in different scenes. Works with characters or any type of parametric object.
Delta Mush smooths deformations while preserving detail. The deformer itself smooths any deformation above it, and works particularly well with joint-based skin deformations. An additional tag allows the smoothing to be adjusted per object.
A new workflow allows you to create Character Definitions for commonly-used rigs and easily retarget animation regardless of joint orientation.
Toon & Face Rigs
Two new presets for the Character Object allow you to easily define character rigs for animating joint-based animation of a face.
Filtering In Attribute Manager And Timeline
Filter the Attribute Manager to show only the attributes animators need to see, and zero in on specific tracks with Timeline filtering.
Animate quicker with more intuitive auto-keyframing and commands to easily set keyframes for entire hierarchies and groups of objects.
Copy / Paste Ease
Copy an ease curve to different keyframe segments or tracks without affecting the values.
Create markers based on BPM, jump between marked ranges and navigate between markers with an all- new HUD.
The Perfect Arrangement
Cinema 4D R23 gives you access to all the powerful UV editing capabilities introduced in Cinema 4D S22. Additionally, we now have New tools geared mostly at UV workflows for hard-surface models.
UV Snapping is now completely integrated into Cinema 4D’s core snapping toolset, with support for point, grid and pixel snapping.
UVs of multiple objects can now be viewed concurrently in the UV Editor. Use UV packing to arrange the islands of all objects into a ONE shared UV Tile, as well as selection and manipulation tools to fine-tune UVs over multiple Objects.
Align, Straighten, Rectangularize
We can now align Islands based on selected Edges, Straighten Edge Selections and rectangularize UV islands.
UV Edit / Layout Enhancements
Enhanced views in the interface and the UV layout window make your workspace more responsive, and combined with the new tools make editing UVs an intuitive and stress-free process.
You’ve Got the Looks
Magic Bullet Looks: Easily apply one of over 200 preset film looks, import LUTs, or work with individual tools for color correction, film grain, chromatic aberration and much more. Red Giant’s Magic Bullet Looks technology is integrated into C4D’s render settings, so all of this works in the interactive viewport and with your final C4D renders. Best of all, you can save your own Looks presets and pass them between many other host applications like After Effects, Premiere Pro and FCPX and more.
- Windows: Windows 10 64-bit on Intel or AMD 64-bit CPU with SSE3 support
- macOS: 10.14.6 or higher with 64-bit CPU running on Intel-based Apple Macintosh or on Apple M1-powered Mac, and 4 GB RAM.
To run future releases of Cinema 4D on Mac, you’ll need at least macOS 10.14 and a supported Mac system with at least macOS GPU Family 1_v3. You can check the Metal compatibility in the macOS System Information, Graphics tab.
We recommend updating to macOS 10.15. There are a number of enhancements to Metal in the latest macOS which will improve the performance, stability and interaction with the viewport.
- Linux: CentOS 7, 64bit, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, 64bit
- Online connection required.
OpenGL graphics card supporting OpenGL 4.1 or newer (dedicated GPU recommended)
Limitations: Drivers needed for AMD graphics cards on Windows:
- mac OS:
OS: macOS 10.14 or higher
Metal: macOS GPUFamily1 v3 or higher (see about this Mac → System report → Graphics/Displays)
GPU: only official supported hardware by Apple (feature set macOS GPUFamily1 v3+)
e-GPU: only official supported hardware (please refer to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208544)
Although Cinema 4D support all OpenGL 4.1 or Metal GPUFamily1 v3-capable graphics cards, we recommend using a dedicated 3D graphics card with an AMD or NVIDIA chip set.
Maxon is not responsible for the compatibility of individual graphics cards with the OpenGL, OpenCL or Metal mode. Due to the large number and types of available chip sets, operating systems and driver versions we cannot guarantee the compatibility of all systems.
